Overview of Vital Capital
Brief History
With decades of experience in transforming and growing businesses across growth markets, Eytan Stibbe, an Israeli investor and entrepreneur, founded Vital Capital in 2011. Vital was soon considered a pioneer impact investor, being one of the first to make a notable commitment to impact investing in Africa, as recognized by the Global Impact Investment Network (GIIN), the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Global Impact Investing Rating system (GIIRS) and others.
Today, Vital operates under the Operating Principal of Impact Management (OPIM) initiated by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank Group. Vital’s investments have delivered essential development along with first-time access to basic goods and services to millions of individuals in developing countries.
Significant Investments
In 2013, Vital Capital entered the healthcare sector with an investment into the Luanda Medical Center (LMC) in Luanda, Angola, in conjunction with the U.S international Development Finance Corporation (DFC, previously known as OPIC). With limited access to healthcare, short supply of equipment and one doctor servicing approximately 5,000 people, healthcare facilitation was extremely challenging across the country. Vital Capital established LMC to create a state-of-the-art facility, delivering affordable and quality health services to people of all ages and income levels. By employing highly qualified professionals and investing in advanced diagnostic equipment and technologies, the medical center has dramatically increased diagnostic capabilities throughout Angola.
The center, promotes outreach to the local community and businesses, helping more Angolans to get insurance coverage and life-saving care. Vital Capital was later recognized as the winner of the 2017 Sustainability & Operational Excellence Challenge by the Global Private Capital Association (GPCA, formerly known as the EMPEA Institute.)
