About Oliver Thylmann

Oliver Thylmann is an investor and entrepreneur based in Cologne, Germany. Thylmann is the co-founder and chief customer officer at Giant Swarm. Thylmann is known for his deep knowledge of technology and for his business acumen. 

At the start of his career, Oliver Thylmann spent two years as the chief technical officer at Ligatus, an advertising solutions provider in Cologne. He was also the product manager of OnVista Media with the responsibility of developing a platform for performance marketing. While he was studying, Thylmann co-founded STATSnet, a statistics service that continues to run today, despite Thylmann no longer being actively involved in it. In 2005 he founded Ormigo GmbH, a company that brings local merchants and international traffic sources together in a syndicated network with the aim of optimising demand creation and distribution using technology. Ormigo was acquired by a top yellow pages company in 2010. In 2008 Thylmann founded Adcloud, a performance advertising company which was sold in 2011 to DHL. 

One of Thylmann’s current ventures is Catalyst Zero, an idea generation, software development and product management company which he co-founded in 2013. Although Catalyst Zero is operational, Thylmann is currently placing all his focus on Giant Swarm, a container platform company.

Although he has been based in Germany throughout his career, Oliver Thylmann considers the entire world as his platform for investment. He has made investments in the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Israel and Germany. He also achieved a management certificate and diploma, and an MBA through Open University, based in the United Kingdom. Thylmann speaks German, English, and French.

  • Blockstack, a New York-based identity management company that provides decentralised apps that are scalable and secure.
  • Haven, a Singapore and San Francisco-based enterprise software company that offers automated logistics for shipping companies. 
  • HoneyBook, a San Francisco-based marketplaces company offering an easy way for entrepreneurs to manage their jobs seamlessly.

In May 2018 Diginomica reported on the changes made by Adidas to their e-commerce platform. Oliver Thylmann was featured as the COO of Giant Swarm, which has been helping Adidas with these changes in their platform. In an article published by Gigaom, Oliver Thylmann interest in container technology as the founder of Giant Swarm, a container-management startup. According to Gigaom, Thylmann said that it may not necessarily be something they are interested in. Business-on.de interviewed Thylmann in an article featuring talent around Cologne.
