About James Hare
James Hare is an investor and entrepreneur with a strong interest in technology, particularly machine learning, digital platforms and e-commerce. Hare is the co-founder and CEO of eko.ai, a company that has developed software that uses machine learning to predict heart disease. By automating the fight against this dreaded disease, eko.ai is actively fighting one of the world’s biggest cause of disability and death. Prior to launching eko.ai, Hare concentrated on the online travel industry. He co-founded eDreams in 1999 and served as President for over a decade. In addition to his main business interests, Hare has also made several angel investments in technology companies.
James Hare completed his education in the United States and gained invaluable experience working in international marketing. One of his earliest responsibilities was to launch software titles in the United States for a French video game producer. Hare was also part of Netscape’s international marketing team and worked in business development for EFI, an innovative software company focused on digital printing.
After completing his basic education James Hare enrolled at Harvard University in the United States where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in history and literature in 1990. Although he is based in Singapore, James Hare has several investments, mainly in the United States. In 2014 he invested in Chariot, a New York-based public transportation company that offers reliable and safe transport at more affordable prices than driving or ridesharing. The company was acquired by Ford Motor Company in 2016. Some of Hare’s other significant investments are:
- Blockstream – A Mountain View-based blockchain and data security company known as a global leader in its field. Hare invested in Blockstream in 2015.

It was reported in 2018 by Kippel01 that eDreams, with the help of James Hare, raised US$34 million dollars in the first few years of its existence before passing hands to TA Associates in 2006. Since then the company has evolved into a giant that billed millions and obtained millions in net profit each year.
