In addition to his main business interests, Hare has also made several angel investments in technology companies. 

Early Years

James Hare completed his education in the United States and gained invaluable experience working in international marketing. One of his earliest responsibilities was to launch software titles in the United States for a French video game producer. Hare was also part of Netscape’s international marketing team and worked in business development for EFI, an innovative software company focused on digital printing. 

Location

After completing his basic education James Hare enrolled at Harvard University in the United States where he achieved a bachelor’s degree in history and literature in 1990. Hare worked in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum for three years after which he co-founded an offshore software company in Ukraine. Hare then moved back to the United States where he worked in the marketing department of technology companies like Ubisoft and Netscape. In 1995 he enrolled at Stanford University where he attained his MBA in 1997, after which he worked at EFI in business development. In 1999 Hare co-founded eDreams which he operated from Spain and Italy for over a decade. In 2017 he moved to Singapore and co-founded eko.io. 

Remarkable Investments

Although he is based in Singapore, James Hare has several investments, mainly in the United States. In 2014 he invested in Chariot, a New York-based public transportation company that offers reliable and safe transport at more affordable prices than driving or ridesharing. The company was acquired by Ford Motor Company in 2016. Some of Hare’s other significant investments are: 

  • Blockstream – A Mountain View-based blockchain and data security company known as a global leader in its field. Hare invested in Blockstream in 2015.
  • Dagne Dover – A New York-based e-commerce company which provides smartly designed handbags and other accessories to women. 
  • AirCare – Located in San Francisco, AirCare is an information technology company catering to the healthcare services industry. 
  • Boxed – Based in New York, Boxed is an online wholesale e-commerce company offering bulk deliveries of groceries and household products at reasonable prices. Hare invested in Boxed in 2015 via AngelList. 

Latest News

It was reported in 2018 by Kippel01 that eDreams, with the help of James Hare, raised US$34 million dollars in the first few years of its existence before passing hands to TA Associates in 2006. Since then the company has evolved into a giant that billed millions and obtained millions in net profit each year.
