Ernst Hertzog
Ernst Hertzog is an investor and industrial engineer, as well as the founder of Action Hero Ventures, a private investment company focusing on early-stage growth investments within the Republic of South Africa. Alongside his work with Action Hero Ventures, Hertzog is serving either as director or sitting on the board of several Action Hero Ventures portfolio companies, including Picsa Group, Rozendal Partners, and The Benefit Counsellor.

Background
Ernst Hertzog attended Stellenbosch University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, receiving a Bachelor of Industrial and Electronic Engineering, and later a Master of Industrial Engineering in mid-2004. In 2008, Hertzog returned to school and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Cape Town. Hertzog then spent four years as a business process engineer for Mediclinic South Africa, a subsidiary of Mediclinic International PLC. In 2013, Hertzog independently founded Action Hero Ventures.
As the Founder and Managing Director of Action Hero Ventures, Ernst Hertzog has personally overseen all of the firm’s major investments since it was founded in 2013. In September of 2022, Action Hero announced an investment into flood, a platform attempting to engage large audiences and create online marketplaces to allow traditional vendors to optimize their ability to reach customers. In 2018, Hertzog joined The Benefit Counsellor as a Business Process Engineer to help the startup achieve its goal of providing financial empowerment to retirement fund members. Since 2015, Hertzog has served as non-executive director at another Action Hero portfolio company, Picsa Group, a Cape Town based holistic savings solution for low-income agricultural employees.
