He started making investments in 1996 and has since become known as a serial entrepreneur. Blanco became a business angel in 2007 and has since acted as speaker, moderator, jury and teacher at a great variety of business schools, universities and events. He is also the author of the book ‘Los principales errores de los emprendedores’ (The Main Mistakes of Entrepreneurs) and has won several awards, including:

  • Named by El Mundo as being one of 500 most influential people in Spain, 2012 and 2013.

Blanco is also a level 2 FCF-CAR Sant Cugat football coach since 2004 and an RFEF sports manager since 2005.

Born in Barcelona, Spain in 1968, Carlos Blanco is a Spanish citizen and places focus on making investments in his country of birth.

Remarkable Investments

Carlos Blanco invests in a variety of industries through his fund Encomenda Smart Capital. While he shifts focus when it comes to investments, Blanco always invests at the seed phase which is the earliest stage of a startup. In 1999 he co-founded First Tuesday. This was a central event where investors and Internet entrepreneurs can meet to share ideas with a view of future business collaboration. In 2001 he launched Grupo ITnet. Specializing in digital gaming, the company was an online business incubator and the breeding space for over ten companies. In 2010 Blanco founded Akamon Entertainment. Known as a top casino and social gaming company Akamon is a leader in its field in Southern Europe and Latin America. When Blanco sold the company at the end of 2015 it became one of the most significant exits in Spain that year.
