Headquartered in Nakamura-ku Nagoya, DMG Mori Seiki Co. is a Japanese machine tool manufacturing and sales company. The company, led by President Masahiko Mori, employs more than 4,000 staff members across the globe, and has completed over 160,000 successful installations in a variety of countries.
After expanding operations to the Russian Federation, DMG Mori Seiki became the first global machine tool manufacturer to be known as a ‘Russian Manufacturer’.

Brief History
Launched in 1948 as Mori Seiki, the company has grown into being one of the world’s foremost machine tool building companies. Around 2009, the already well-established Mori Seiki entered into a strategic alliance with Deckel-Maho-Gildemeister in Germany, and DMG Mori Seiki Aktiengesellschaft (AG) started operating as Mori Seiki’s German sister company. Together, the two companies market products across the globe under the brand DMG Mori. In 2015, the company established several highly advanced production and assembly plants in Ulyanovsk in the Russian Federation. In 2016 DMG Mori Seiki Co. became the first international tool manufacturer to hold the status of ‘Russian Manufacturer’.
DMG Mori Seiki Co.’s headquarters are in Nakamuru-ku, Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, and its sister company, DMG Mori AG, are in Bielefeld, Germany. In 2015 it was reported that DMG Mori Seiki Co. would buy out its German partner. DMG Mori Seiki Co. also has a presence in the Russian Federation as a manufacturer, and in Davis, California, where they’ve established the Digital Technology Laboratory with the aim of developing software for new products.
Significant Investments
One of DMG Mori Seiki Co.’s most significant investments is an eight-point economic cooperation plan that involves a 10-year investment contract undertaken between the company and Ulyanovsk, a province in western Russia. Despite the economic sanctions put in place against the Russian Federation by Western countries, Russia continues to try and boost domestic production of industrial goods. Because machine tools are vital to local production, Russia is welcomes Japanese machine tool makers like DMG Mori Seiki Co. and their advanced technologies.

After several talks around localizing production of cutting machine tools and lathes in Russia, it was announced that DMG Mori Seiki Co. will set up a manufacturing plant and supplier park east of Moscow. It was reported that the Japanese company would invest around US$4 million in the project. According to Ulyanovsk Regional Administration, great growth is being experienced in the region in the manufacturing sector, and it is expected that this trend will continue through business alliances similar to the deal with DMG Mori Seiki Co.
