Career

Vranjes started his career as a national systems engineer in Australia. After joining a company called Alphawest, Vranjes moved from a predominately technical role as a senior consulting architect into a managerial position in which he worked on key company projects. In 2008 he became a non-executive director of Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA AN/Z). In November 2016 Vranjes joined Amazon Web Services where he took on the responsibility of business development activities in startup and venture capital eco-systems. After five months of service, Vranjes was promoted to the role of head of the startup ecosystem ASEAN – a position he continues to hold. 

Location

Originally from Australia, Andrew Vranjes completed his basic education and then enrolled at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia in 1996. Vranjes graduated in 1999 with a bachelor’s of science degree in information technology and communications. He also attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts between 1999 and 2001 where he studied audio engineering, production and design. In January 2001 Vranjes started working at Metric Australia as a national systems engineer. He moved to Singapore and in March 2011 joined Cisco as a senior sales specialist, DC and cloud service providers. From October 2015 until November 2016, in his final role at Cisco, Vranjes worked as senior manager of business development at the company’s Asia Pacific and Japan branch.

Vranjes has made investments in a range of funds on FoundersClub such as:

  • Labdoor, a company that tests, grades and rank supplements.
  • Whale Path, an on-demand business research provider.
  • UpCounsel, a legal services marketplace.
  • Proven, a company that helps small to medium-sized restaurants and hotel chains to streamline their hiring processes.

In 2013 Noonswoon, a mobile dating service for single people in Asia raised US$400,000 in seed round funding from Andrew Vranjes and three other investors; Kheilee Ng, Golden Gate Ventures and Chintaka Ranatunga. Noonswoon was since successfully acquired by Date Tix.

In May 2018 it was announced by e27 that the plug-and-play online travel agency solutions startup TavelSkope had raised US$297,000. Investors across New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore contributed to the funding and consisted of notable investors such as Andrew Vranjes, Nelson Wang and Tom Duncon. TravelSkope plans to use the funds to set up an office in Singapore with the ultimate goal of expanding into the Southeast Asian market.
